The Story of SRP3 – Part II

18 06 2009

It was a hot Saturday of Delhi with the SRP3 all set to go for an outing (Thanks to IIT Delhi administration, which observes Saturday as a holiday, otherwise half of the IITDians will end up having migraine. :P ). A month had passed since their first tragedy.

Sharad went to Paras’ room, “Wake up man, you’ve been sleeping for the last 12 hours, half of the day is enough for sleeping, I guess”.

“Hey, let me sleep, 12 hours are too less for a Saturday!”, said Paras, in a sleepy voice.

“I have taken a bath and I am ready, where is Paras?”, Prerit arrived.

“Wake up! Paras”, Prateek shouted, in his loud voice.

Finally Paras woke up and got ready, “Where is Rahul?”, he asked.

“Might be busy doing some problem analysis, Let’s ask him to go”, said Sharad.

Finally they all headed to Vasant Kunj for shopping and fun, as suggested by one of their friends, the shopping malls in Vasant Kunj were a nice place to have an outing.

Now, as it happened always with them, the sign board was indicating the incorrect direction to Vasant Kunj and they reached Mahipalpur, a residential area with no shopping sites whatsoever.

What it should've been, thanks to photoshop and me of course

It was around 1 in the afternoon and they were feeling hungry. So they had lunch in a ‘Dhaba’.

I think going to South Extension would be a good idea, I have to purchase my shoes over there.”, Rahul said.

“Shut up!, can’t we find a better economical place”, said Sharad.

“Come on Sharad, there are much better thngs in life other than just maintaining your bank balance”, Rahul replied.

After a long war of words between them, all had to agree to Rahul and went to south ex., a busy shopping place with lots of high-end shopping malls. Everything there was too expensive to be bought. So they decided to go to Connaught place in search of ‘reasonable’ prices.

“Which way is the CP bus stop?“, asked Rahul.

“No idea”, replied Sharad.

“We always end up going the wrong way, guys. I think we should ask someone.”, said  Prerit.

“Go straight, and get bus no. 615 to CP”, a stranger replied as Sharad asked the way.

They thought it would be a short distance, unfortunately, it was little less than 1 km, but they kept patience and finally reached the stop. After waiting for 2 minutes, a bus came and they all boarded it. In the mid way, Rahul received a phone call from his home.

“We’ll have to deboard, my mom just told on phone that CP has been attacked by terrorists just 2 minutes ago“, said Rahul.

The next halt came but the bus didn’t stop, it just slowed down, RP3 deboarded. Sharad was the last one to deboard, but the bus again gained speed and he was left in the bus.

Fortunately, the next red light was not too far and he got off the bus there. He had to walk about 1/2 a km to reach the last bus stand where the RP3 were. They were the only people at that lonely place.

“I think we should go to the next bus stand, it doesn’t seem like a major bus stop, no bus is gonna come here”, said Prateek.

They went through 3 bus stops on foot keeping the same thing in mind, and finally started looking for a taxi.

Dhamakey ho rahe hain dilli main, Bhag lo. (Delhi is being rocked by blasts, run away), a taxi driver said while passing through the road.

“F*** man, how can a day be this much bad, get some taxi, i gotta go and sleep”, said Paras.

After all this, finally, they got a taxi for the hostel, missed their dinner as usual and didn’t buy even a single key ring that day. To add more to their misery, the IIT Delhi cafetaria, Sip n Bite was closed that day. Finally they had to go to Sassi (To know more about Sassi, read ‘Five Point Someone’, by Chetan Bhagat). The day ended with their relatives advising them not to go outside the institute campus and by now they had understood that Hamara Kuch Nahi Ho Sakta.

P.S. :
